I didn't have a copy of this photograph for the 2014 Montage Video, but when I saw it this morning - an all call for the 2015 Daniel Trust Scholarship Campaign - I knew I wanted day two of this year to be an advertisement for his cause.
Here, Odie Gomes, Kathy Silver (Yellow) and I hammed up our support at last year's dinner at the Bridgeport Holiday Inn. I love this photograph, but more importantly, I'm a huge fan of the work that Daniel Trust is doing in support of high school students pursuing a college degree. As the website declares,
When YOU #GiveBack to your community, YOU always #AchieveMore.
The Daniel Trust Foundation advises and helps teens plan their education and careers with meaning and purpose. In addition, the foundation rewards and recognizes students with scholarships and teachers with grants, who give back to causes they are passionate about in their communities through social activism and community service.
Daniel Trust is a phenomenal speaker who has embraced a difficult history as a Rwandan Genocide survivor and finding a purpose and mission within the United States. He keeps a smile on his face, a sense of humor in his heart, and a passion in his soul - all of which are extremely rare and unique.
If you're inclined, you can support the young people and teachers that Daniel Trust stands behind by visiting his donation page today.
In 2014, he offered much to the Connecticut Writing Project's summer institute at Fairfield University and at a forum hosted during Refugee Awareness month. He is a tremendous humanitarian who spreads the joy of accomplishment to others. The photograph above 'cracks me up' and is exactly why I wanted to write in his support of his Foundation this Friday.
As it's a new year and everyone is in reflective mode, think strategically about helping those who are doing good for the world.
